One of a Kind Wearable Art
Maria’s work is the result of experimentation with materials. Starting by creating individual and unique components, building blocks for a final cool object of wearable art. Breaking with symmetry while maintaining harmony is her guiding principle.
Maria Lasa-Sloan aka Nana Lasa, was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she still goes often to re-set her Boricua soul. She studied metalsmith, drawing and painting at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC. She’s been creating work at Studio 4903, a shared studio space for local artists in Washington, DC since 2011.
